Bio: acquired from the Padres in late 2006 for pitcher David Wells. Intrigues a lot of Red Sox Nation, and is the top candidate to replace Jason Varitek in 2009. I'm not so sure though. His minor league numbers aren't so good, so he's overrated at this point. He does have experience catching the knuckleball, he once caught for Steve Sparks, which leads me to believe he'll replace Mirabelli as the backup next year. Still, he needs to do a lot more in Pawtucket this season to convince me he can replace Tek.

2007 Projected Statistics: .190, 0, 5, 3, 4

Fantasy Outlook: since he's probably the top choice to get the call up were Mirabelli or Varitek to get hurt, he might have a small bit of value. If it was Tek who went down, I think the Sox will give him more playing time than Mirabelli. Then again, the likes of Alberto Castillo and Kevin Cash could be the third options.
